Attorney Sarah Nelson, and the Sarasota VP of Housing Operations for HUD, Sherri Campanale will join us for a fair housing presentation that will provide a basic overview of the federal fair housing laws.

This will include the protected groups/classes, advertising, reasonable occupancy standards, reasonable modifications and accommodations, and disparate impact and use of criminal convictions as a tenant screening tool.

We will also review additional protections under Florida state law, and what can be expected when a discrimination complaint is filed with either HUD or the Florida Commission on Human Relations. Sherri Campanale will be instructing us on the process of becoming a HUD and Section 8 Landlord in Sarasota County.
