As property managers we collect a lot of personally identifiable information (PII) from our customers in the course of doing our jobs. This creates both a responsibility to protect PII and liability for us if we fail to adequately protect PII.

Come educate yourself on the new challenges we face in property management caused by financial fraud, identity theft, computer hacking, social engineering and our responsibilities under the Florida Information Protection Act of 2014.

The presentation will address:

(1) What we should all be doing as individuals to better protect our own PII;

(2) The critical things every property manager must be doing to protect our customer’s PII; and

(3) What brokers, owners and managers should be doing today to prepare for (and survive) a loss of PII, when it occurs.

Andrew Dougill has been a real estate investor and residential landlord for more than 30-years. He is a Realtor®, professional Property Manager and is the co-owner and Broker of Hoffman Realty LLC in Tampa, Florida with his wife MaryAnn Hoffman. Hoffman Realty has managed residential properties in the Tampa Bay area since 1988. Prior to joining Hoffman Realty, Andrew spent the first 2-decades of his working career as an engineer, designing computer hardware, software and firmware for use in industrial, aerospace, military, public safety, business and residential computer systems.
